City to implement traffic calming measures across neighbourhoods within Milnerton, Melkbosstrand, Parklands, Table View and Atlantis

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents of planned roadworks to implement a range of traffic-calming measures and new footway construction across several neighbourhoods in Milnerton, Melkbosstrand, Parklands, Table View and Atlantis.

‘These traffic-calming measures and all the new footways being constructed across neighbourhoods in Milnerton, Melkbosstrand, Parklands, Table View and Atlantis forms part of the City’s ongoing commitment to improving pedestrian and road safety, especially in areas close to schools, play parks and community amenities where vulnerable road users are most at risk. Residents in the area may experience some noise while works are under way and can expect some temporary traffic disruptions along the affected streets. We thank all residents and road users for their patience and cooperation over the next few months,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The roadworks are scheduled to take place from today, 6 November 2025 until Friday, 24 April 2026 if all goes according to plan.

Working hours will be between 07:00 and 17:00 from Mondays to Saturdays, weather permitting.

The project work will include the following:

•        Milnerton:
-         Installation of speed humps along Oxalis Street
-         Raised intersection at Mimosa Street and Ixia Road

•        Melkbosstrand:
-         Construction of speed humps along Drommedaris Street

•        Parklands:
-         Installation of speed humps along Deptford Crescent and Beacon Road
-         Raised intersection at Humewood Drive and Torquay Close

•        Table View:
-         Construction of speed humps along Shetland Road; Pinto Road; Plover Street; Hutchison Avenue and Palomino Road.

•        Atlantis:
-         Construction of speed humps along Antelope Avenue, Addison Avenue, Bentos Street, Adriatic Avenue, Bengal Street, Bon Aventura Avenue, Dahlia Street, Cosmos Street, Keria Avenue, Starling Road, and Patrys Street

-         Construction of new footways along Patrys Street, Bottle Brush Street, Lisboa Street, Matheran Street, Middelburg Street and Tsitsa Street.
